S&P Global: designing a custom interface for financial advisors

For over 150 years, S&P Global has been helping investors make informed investment decisions with up-to-the-minute market intelligence like credit ratings, indices, investment research, risk evaluations and solutions.

rayogram engaged in a multi-year collaboration with Standard & Poor’s to design and launch MarketScope Advisor—an online, real-time investment information platform to provide subscribers with a wealth of detailed information about more than 9,000 corporations.

MarketScope was a ground-breaking, high-profile product—a one-stop vetting resource at a time when financial advisers routinely trawled multiple platforms for information—whose launch was celebrated by the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange.

Standard & Poor’s MarketScope Advisor is a beautifully designed, intuitive online application that is meant to serve as a financial adviser’s central source of real-time stock analysis, equity research, strategic asset allocation guidance and market commentary.

Subsequent iterations to the platform included: self-service online registration; a proprietary content management system; a web portal for analyzing investment indices; a mobile app; and a portal offering advisors information on the bond market including S&P’s rating services, screening tools and market commentary. One feature of the portal—the Bond Ladder Builder—allowed advisors to utilize calculators as they evaluated investment securities for their clients including corporate bonds, municipal offerings, agency bonds, and treasuries.

By adding this tool (the Bond Ladder Builder) to our already robust MarketScope Advisor platform, we’re continuing our commitment to bringing high-quality, independent research to the advisor marketplace designed to meet their needs and those of their clients.
— Andrea Remyn, managing director at Standard & Poor’s Equity Research Services

Other iterations were intended to help advisers keep their clients better informed with breaking news. These included: a calendar for tracking market-moving events (such as government data announcements and IPOs); updates on analysts’ equity ratings; and a section in which advisers could create client portfolios and monitor their performance using data including S&P’s own suite of model portfolios.
