The New York City Coalition Against Hunger
Better serving the city's hungry
The New York City Coalition Against Hunger (NYCCAH) meets the immediate food needs of more than 1.4 million low- income New Yorkers and the 1200 non profit soup kitchens and food pantries that serve them.
rayogram recently upgraded NYCCAH’s site to the latest versions of Drupal and CiviCRM. NYCCAH realized immediate benefit from using CiviCRM to manage their database of donors and volunteers by consolidating the maintenance of two legacy databases. This included upgrading an existing CiviCRM database of contacts and donors; importing a SugarCRM database of food service partners; and planning for a future import of a proprietary database of volunteer opportunities. NYCCAH now uses CiviCRM exclusively to manage contact and contribution information for their entire database. Their solution includes ‘hunger maps’ that allow site visitors to find a local food pantry or soup kitchen. These maps are generated by data in CiviCRM fed to Google Maps. NYCCAH also plans to role out a CiviCRM/Drupal based system for matching volunteers to volunteer opportunities in 2011.
