We use research and immersion to best understand the social and design challenges facing our clients. This includes contextual interviews with key stakeholders— our client, their consumers/constituents and other subject matter experts—to identify the problems our design might resolve for them. We compile and synthesize our research and observations into insights and common themes. Our resulting creative strategies illuminate multiple ideas and opportunities for successful design intervention—acting as a roadmap for the work ahead.

As brand stewards we design novel, new brand identities that embody each client’s unique values. We've designed original identities for scrappy non profits and big government behemoths. And we've been entrusted with the two-volume brand books of household names like News Corporation, Disney/ABC and Standard & Poors .

In creating a new brand, we collaborate closely with key-stakeholders to create an identity that embodies its unique values. We extend new and existing brands beyond tag lines, logos, visual marks, and collateral materials to packaging, signage and environmental branding as well as publications, advertising and public service announcements. And we hand off each branding project with style guides to ensure their integrity across all media well into the future.

Our editorial guidance has included training a staff of fifty state government employees to write in Plain Language. It has included commissioning illustration, photography, copywriting and editing for all kinds of publications - magazines, brochures, newsletters, fact sheets, briefing papers, OpEds and more. We still get a thrill out of seeing publications we’ve designed out in the world - on newsstands, in board rooms, on ISSUU.
